We started installing epoxy floors in garages around 2010 and since then we’ve certainly learned a lot, and pretty much perfected our process. Over the years, we’ve had the same standard color options for the flakes (also called chips), approximately 8 standard. Upon request, we can always do custom colors and certainly enjoy doing them.
This year, we decided to add a couple colors to the standard options. The newest offering is called “Nightfall” and it is a standard 1/4″ flake. Because grays are very popular and the most requested, we figured adding this would be great. We are excited to have completed our first project with the new Nightfall 1/4″ flake.
It is a residential 2-car garage with an extended 3rd bay that is used as a shop. It is north of Loveland and Fort Collins, located in Wellington, CO. We installed a 1×6 baseboard around the perimeter of both areas to create a better finished product and look. The flakes are as cool as we hoped! We installed the shop portion first and the customer was really excited to have us come back a few days later to do the main garage floor. We installed and caulked the baseboard, performed our surface prep, which always includes diamond grinding the concrete floor to profile the concrete. Then, we applied our 3 coat system of aliphatic polyaspartic. The flakes, as usual, were applied with a full broadcast and 100% coverage for uniformity.
We are also going to be introducing another new color very soon!
